Rhysling Nominations, 2009: The Official List

(crossposted from my LJ, so sorry if you're seeing this twice)

Dear, lovely, fabulous readers of our 'zine,

You need to understand that I'm only able to type this because I've just spent about half an hour holding down the Shift key and the "e" key together, followed by the Shift key and the 1 key, at a very kind and indulgent time_shark. I will spare you the further transliteration of my delirious squee, and stick to the facts, which are as follow:

- 12 poems from Goblin Fruit received Rhysling nominations.
- SF Scope has the official list, declaring us to have 7 nominations in the short category, and five in the long.
- I am informed, by the aforementioned time_shark, that this is the largest number of nominations ever to be received by one publication.
- WE GOT MORE NOMS THAN MYTHIC DELIRIUM. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!*

Okay, so I lied. Make something of it!

I'm so deeply grateful to everyone who reads Goblin Fruit and finds something in there wonderful enough to nominate for an award. Because when mer_moon and I started this 'zine, it was because we didn't see enough of what WE wanted to read out there, and we were sure that we couldn't possibly be the only two people in the poetry-reading world with our kind of taste, sure that someone else would come to like what we thought beautiful. Our third anniversary is almost upon us, and you guys just keep on proving it to us. Thank you.

And, naturally, congratulations to all of the following!

Short Category:

- "Midnight Rendezvous, Philly," by Mike Allen, from the Summer 2008 issue

Long Category:

* And just in case it weren't obvious, we gloat because we love. Mike was there helping us out from below ground zero, and we will always, always be grateful for everything he's done to guide us along and help us out and be generally awesome -- which naturally makes beating him all the sweeter! Mwouahaha!
